The specialization of the Department of Agricultural Economics began as a division of the Department of Plant Production in the academic year 1972 AD, and in confirmation of the role and importance of this specialization in supporting the process of economic development in general and agricultural development in particular, the Department of Agricultural Economics was established as a specialized department in 1978 AD.
The department offers a program for undergraduate and postgraduate study that links economic theory and its applications in the field of agriculture, which constitutes a basic pillar for the college in studying agricultural problems and finding appropriate solutions to them through developing appropriate agricultural policies.
